Welcome to TVTC’s Virtual New Works. Now more than ever, while the world has been turned upside down, we need the arts. We need storytellers. We need new theatre. While our physical theater spaces may be dark at the moment, we still have an obligation to amplify marginalized voices, inform the public on the truths of our world, and create meaningful art as a way of knowing. From pen to play, we welcome you to the scaffold on which we invite you to build tomorrow's theatre repertoire. VNW offers youth a space to collaborate with their peers and create a new work with direct mentorship from experienced writers in our VNW Class. What's more, through the annual VNW Fest, new works created by youth separately from TVTC have an opportunity to be showcased as well. We hope you'll consider joining our VNW community and look forward to sharing important stories with each of you.
Sincerely,
Eliana Coe and Rylynn Davis
Welcome to TVTC’s Virtual New Works Premiere Class. From pen to play, we will walk you through the basics of writing a new play/musical and give you the foundation to build your own new works. We will offer guidance, mentorship, and support as you and a group of peers embark on your storytelling journey, co-writing a never before seen piece of theatre. Both of us, Rylynn Davis and Eliana Coe, are alumni of the Village Theatre Kidstage Originals Program and have been writing shows and collaborating with each other for years. Theatre is a vehicle for change. We wish to help amplify your voices and create meaningful theatre rooted in truth. This is your chance to tell stories that matter to you and we can’t wait to hear and share them with the world. No experience required.
