The Virtual Theatre Co. is excited to announce our newest program, The Virtual Theatre Initiative (VYI). VYI is an internship program made for highschool aged students to be involved in TVTC social media, marketing, outreach and to gain arts administration experience working directly with our marketing, networking, administrative, and creative teams. Our intern team will meet twice a month, work on a marketing campaign to promote TVTC session programs and performances, shadow our creative team in their classes and productions, attend workshops on how to create and maintain industry connections, how to use social media as a tool for marketing and branding, and other topics that will help our youth interns build a meaningful network of artists in TVTC and beyond!
TVTC is searching for driven and passionate artists, creators, and people interested in performing arts ages 16-18 with a vision for how to expand our growing virtual theatre community! If you have an idea on how to improve and evolve what virtual theatre looks like, are curious about arts administration, want to learn how to market yourself as an artist, or if you are interested in learning more about what goes into creating arts spaces in the age of Covid-19 (and beyond!), we invite you to apply for our youth intern team!
Our application opens on October 31st, 2020 and closes on December 1st, 2020. Interviews will be held remotely December 5th-11th, 2020. Our interns for The Virtual Youth Initiative will be announced on December 18th, before winter break. The program will begin the first week of January 2021 with the start of the next session of TVTC. The program will run through the year, up until June 2021.
The application process includes a general application and 3 short answer questions (listed below)
You will be asked to upload your artistic or professional resume (if you don’t have one, please upload a document that details any past performances, volunteer experience, work experience, or internships), and a headshot (any picture where we can clearly see your face will work!)
For the final part of the application, you will be asked to upload a video, essay, artistic piece, or any other type of creative format describing why you want to be a part of The Virtual Youth Initiative, what you can bring to the team, and what you are hoping to get out of the program. Be creative with this part! We want to learn more about you and who you are as an artist!
This is an unpaid position- However these are the opportunities and benefits you will receive as a member of TVTC’s Virtual Youth Initiative:
We will meet bi-weekly on Mondays beginning on January 4th and spanning until June, when we will close out our program for the summer. These meetings will take place from 4-5pm PST and are mandatory. You will be asked to attend occasional Admin/Creative team meetings and occasionally shadow classes and productions. There is a place in the application to describe any possible time conflicts or concerns.
